Each Preferential parking district has undergone an assessment of available street parking as compared to residences that are located within the district. A Maximum number of eligible permits is based on the specific district.

To obtain a Preferential Permit, proof of residence is required. Full payment for a Preferential Permit is required in order to receive Parking Decal and/or a Temporary Permit. A Temporary Parking Permit is only valid for 21 Days. Please send Proof of Residence before the expiration of the Temporary Permit. If the application is sent by mail, a Temporary Permit is not provided.

Application for issuance of the permit, renewal or replacement of a Residential permit shall be accompanied by a fee of Twenty-Five Dollars ($25.00). Guest passes shall be accompanied by a fee of Ten Dollars ($10.00).

Please follow the steps below once you have completed the below application:
1) Print out the completed application.
2) Make copies of the selected two proof of residency and send them along with your application to the mailing address given below.
3) If you select to ‘pay by check’, please enclose a check payable to "City of Irvine".
4) Once your residency has been verified and full payment has been made, a parking permit decal will be sent to you.

Until the above steps are taken, your parking permit application is PENDING and WILL NOT BE FULFILLED until all the necessary requirements are met. If you do not follow through with these requirements and your temporary permit expires, you will be in violation and subject to citation if you choose to park on the street.
